DR. TEWODROS TILAHUN

Dr. Tewodros Tilahun Zerfu is part of the team of doctors at Dream Orthopedics, Trauma and Spine center. He has specialized in pediatric orthopedics surgery. His treatment philosophy is to utilize non-surgical treatment to their fullest extent possible and selecting the real winners only for surgical intervention. He is an advocate of surgical safety and quality improvement using research, training and regular service reviews.

Dr. Tewodros was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He received his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Gondar (then Gondar College of Medical Sciences). He completed a five years of orthopedic surgery training in Kenya under the College of Surgeons East, Central and Southern Africa (COSECSA). He also did a one year of pediatric orthopedic subspeciality training at the Hospital for Sick Children, University of Toronto, Canada.

He is serving at CURE Children’s Hospital Ethiopia for the past 12years and has taken care of a lot of children with congenital and acquired conditions. He has an all rounded Pediatric orthopedic practice. This included clubfoot, bow legs, knock knees, bone fragility disorders, pediatric hip conditions including DDH, brachial plexus birth palsy, congenital upper limb deformities, trauma and fractures, post trauma deformities, post infection deformities and so on. But, his main areas of interest are pediatric hip conditions, congenital or acquired upper limb conditions as well as limb reconstruction for deformities and bone gap treatment.

He is involved in training the next generation of orthopedic surgeons from different universities. He is also training pediatric orthopedic fellows to be the next pediatric orthopedic surgeons in the country. He is also the current pediatric orthopedics exam chair of College of Surgeons East, Central and Southern Africa.
